The Website Design Process

If you’ve never had a website designed for you before, you may be wondering what the process is. We like to make things as simple as possible:

  • Initial Chat

    Reach out to chat with us about your website needs.  We will ask you a bunch of questions about what you are wanting from your website.  This will help us determine exactly what will be required in your design.

  • Quote

    We will provide you with a detailed quote outlining what exactly is included – a list of pages, functionality, domain registration etc.

  • Quote Acceptance

    You let us know you are keen to go ahead with the project and we’ll send you an invoice along with our website design agreement.  We will also ask you to select a template as a starting point.  In case you do overwhelm well, we’ll even pick out a couple of suggestions for you as there are a lot to choose from.

  • Project Start

    Once you’ve paid your deposit, we will set up a google drive folder for you to provide us with the information and files we’ll need to bring your website to life.  The things we’ll need will include logos, style guides, photos/images, pricing/menus etc.

  • Deep Dive Session

    We will meet with you either in person or via video chat to do a deeper dive into your business – who is your target audience, what actions do you want them to take, what makes you different, what is your brand story.  We want to know your business in depth because that’s how we can create a website you’ll love!  Don’t worry if you don’t know the answers already – we’ll help you work that out.

  • Copywriting

    Here’s where we’ll write the words that will determine the structure of each page.  You’ll receive this in a word document to review and correct anything that’s not quite right.  If there’s anything more we need from you, we’ll highlight that in this document.

  • Design Phase

    When you are happy to proceed with the copy, we’ll enter the design phase.  This is where we do the fun stuff making your website look amazing and adding in all the functionality it needs to be useful to your target audience.

  • Design Review

    Once we’ve completed a single page, we’ll send you a preview link so you can ensure that what you had envisioned is what we are creating for you.

  • Full Website Review

    Once we've taken your design review notes into account and completed the website design, we’ll send you another preview link to view the full website.  This is your opportunity to pick out any errors, things you’d like to change etc.

  • Launch

    After we’ve made any necessary changes and you’ve paid the final balance of your invoice and your hosting payments, it will be time to launch your brand new website!  We’ll even give you some tips on how to maximise the launch to get your website started getting some traffic.

  • Post Launch

    Describe the item or answer the question so that site visitors who are interested get more information. You can emphasize this text with bullets, italics or bold, and add links.

  • How long will it take to create a website?

    Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer to that question because it all depends on you!  Websites can be created fast but the thing that usually slows the process down is waiting on images, logos, feedback from our clients.  So, if you want a quick turnaround on your website, the best thing to do is ensure you are quick to provide everything we need!

  • Do I need to be based on the Atherton Tablelands to work with you?

    Not at all!  We have clients across Australia and even internationally!  Everything can be done via phone, email and video call so there’s no need for us to be in the same region.

  • What platform will my website be built on?

    We choose to use Duda to build websites for our clients.  There are a few reasons for this.  There are no software updates required, it has built in security, excellent SEO features and it’s super easy to use. This means if you want to learn, you can make simple updates yourself without having to pay someone!

  • Who writes the content for the website?

    Unlike most website designers, we include copywriting in our prices. That’s because we know you are busy and probably not an expert in SEO.  Our copywriter will deliver excellent copy that draws in your target audience and helps to convert them into loyal customers.

  • How much say do I get in the design of my website?

    It’s important that you love your new website so your input is essential.  You will be included throughout the process and your feedback is welcomed.  You always have the final say!

  • Are there ongoing costs I should know about?

    All websites require a domain name which will have an annual fee attached to it and there’s also a monthly or annual fee for hosting which keeps your website live on the internet.  We will always advise you of these costs at the time of quoting and again at launch stage.

  • Can I add pages to my website down the track?

    Absolutely, if you want to scale up your website as things change in your business, that’s definitely an option.  We will be happy to discuss what you’d like to do and provide you with a custom quote to carry out the work.

  • Who owns my website when it’s complete?

    You do!  We are not one of those website designers that holds you to ransom and requires you to come to us for updates.  We want you to be able to make updates to your site and will empower you to do so.
