The Kickass Marketing story

Once upon a time (well, 2020 to be exact) a young (ish) travel agent’s life was thrown into turmoil when a global pandemic unlike anything the world had ever seen brought her 16-year career to an end.


That travel agent was me. Toni Perrin.


What was I to do? Reinvent myself of course!


Having completed a business degree with a major in marketing (many) years earlier, I went back to those roots. I took the time to refresh my skills (it had been a while) and Kickass Marketing was born.


Then, in 2021, I made a decision that would alter the course of my life forever…


I became a Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Time Line Therapy ®, and Hypnosis.

How is that relevant? NLP is all about the language of the mind and as a copywriter, it comes in handy to know how to speak to people’s unconscious minds so that things resonate with them at a deeper level! It also allows me to coach my clients to help them overcome their obstacles and achieve their goals.

What's in a name?

I get a lot of comments about the name Kickass Marketing – usually positive but better to be someone’s shot of vodka than everyone’s cup of tea!


It took a long time to settle on it as there are so many marketing companies out there and I had a lot of different ideas, but this is the one that I kept coming back to.


Those who know me well, think it suits me perfectly as I am known for my direct approach and straight talking, especially when someone needs a little kick up the ass (don’t we all sometimes?).


The aim was to have a name that people would remember and after a few years in business, it seems to have worked!

I may have been born in the city and loved living in London in my early twenties, but moving to Cairns made me realise I prefer towns over cities.


Eventually, I yearned for more space, the chance to be self-sufficient, and to be part of a smaller community. So, I relocated with my partner and son to the Ravenshoe region in early 2023 and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.


When I’m not at my desk, you’ll usually find me out in the paddock tending to our animals or gardens, preserving our home-grown fruit and veggies, baking in the kitchen or volunteering with a local community organisation.
